Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck needs additional time to investigate allegations that Fort Collins police officer Jim Broderick violated the law when he assembled the now-vacated murder case against Tim Masters.
Previously, Buck had planned to disclose his findings last week, but more interviews and research into new leads are required before reaching a decision to prosecute Broderick, his office announced Friday.
"We have been unable to interview a key witness in this investigation," according to a press statement that stated it could be at least three weeks before the source is available for questioning. "We feel that in order to fulfill our duty of conducting a thorough investigation into this case, this individual must be interviewed ..."
