A former Jefferson County federal prison guard was sentenced Tuesday to a year in prison after pleading guilty to taking bribes to smuggle loose tobacco and rolling papers to inmates.
James D. Caban, 48, of Northglenn, was sentenced to a year and one day in prison for accepting more than $5,000 of bribes during the scheme at the Federal Correctional Institute in unincorporated Jefferson County.
Upon release from prison, Caban must serve three years of supervised probation.
How does the public think that drugs get into prisons? Yes, there are the highly publicized putting it in the baby's things, etc. However, prisoners are strip searched, so that is too risky. The corrupt guards are the way drugs get into prisons.mpc
ReplyDeleteCorrupt guards only encourage prisoners to continue the culture that got them locked up to begin with.
ReplyDeleteNow that the Supermax and perhaps other institutions have "the Xray chair", perhaps they should begin using it on the guards daily?
