WASHINGTON — Gov. Bill Ritter and the state's two freshman senators are asking President Barack Obama to "seriously consider" appointing Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to the U.S. Supreme Court.
In a letter sent to the White House on Friday, the Democrats touted the diversity and unique experience Salazar would bring to the bench — a Westerner who from hard-scrabble beginnings has risen to become one of the country's most successful Latino politicians.
"He would provide the viewpoint of a Western and Latino leader and bring a wealth of experience from his many years in both the public and private sectors," Ritter said of the push to consider Salazar to fill the spot being vacated by retiring Justice David Souter.
Oh hell no. Ritter simply wants Salazar for political gain - AGAIN. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with justice. Besides ... I believe President Obama's preferred choice in having a female in the Supreme Court would be a very astute move on his part. I know he is considering a Hispanic, but the vacancy should be filled by a woman. There is too much testosterone in the highest court as it is. Anything Ritter suggests, I distrust. He refuses to provide reform and rehabilitation in criminal justice. REFUSES. His goal is more and more frivolous incarcerations and more and more for-profit prisons.
ReplyDeleteFor the record: Anyone with loved ones incarcerated in a CCA-owned facility are in jeopardy of being removed out of state in the near future. Kit Carson is being targeted (for one). Remain alert. I consider this Bill Ritter's thirst for more blood money.
Salazar is Ritter's political stepping stool. It has NOTHING to do with genuine justice!
Lets hope we get someone with some common sense, Isn't Salazar a former DA. All they ever want is blood not justice.
