Correction To Press Release

The release mistakenly read:

Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz called for changes to the City Charter
that would prevent citizens from initiating measures on
such issues the Council is unwilling to take up.

Councilwoman Faatz did NOT call for changes to the City Charter that
would prevent citizens from initiating measure. Rather, she called
for changes to the City Charter that remove the City Council from the
initiative process.

Statement from Citizens for a Safer Denver spokesman Mason Tvert:

"I personally take responsibility for the misunderstanding that
occurred today concerning Councilwoman Faatz's position on the Denver
initiative process. Upon speaking with the Councilwoman, I learned
that she is a strong supporter of Denver citizens' rights to initiate
legislation, and she was actually referring to a proposed charter
amendment that would relieve the Council of its role in the
initiative process. I realize that I have unintentionally
misrepresented the Councilwoman's position, thus I sincerely
apologize for this confusion and regret any inconvenience it might
have caused Councilwoman Faatz or members of the media."
