Who is the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition?

Our mission is to reverse the trend of mass incarceration in Colorado. We are a coalition of nearly 7,000 individual members and over 100 faith and community organizations who have united to stop perpetual prison expansion in Colorado through policy and sentence reform.

Our chief areas of interest include drug policy reform, women in prison, racial injustice, the impact of incarceration on children and families, the problems associated with re-entry and stopping the practice of using private prisons in our state.

On Colorado's plains, Burlington residents uncertain how law should treat 12-year-old accused of killing parents - The Denver Post

BURLINGTON — It's the question that has been on the minds of many in this town east of Denver since the horrific crime occurred in March:

What should the state do with a 12-year-old accused killer?

The next steps toward an answer to that question will be taken Monday, when the boy appears in court for a pretrial hearing.

At that point, a judge will begin to consider the evidence that could eventually help decide whether the boy accused of killing his parents and gravely wounding two siblings should remain in juvenile court or be treated as an adult.

On the evening of March 1, Charles Long, 50, and his wife Marilyn, 51, were found dead in their Burlington home.
