Who is the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition?

Our mission is to reverse the trend of mass incarceration in Colorado. We are a coalition of nearly 7,000 individual members and over 100 faith and community organizations who have united to stop perpetual prison expansion in Colorado through policy and sentence reform.

Our chief areas of interest include drug policy reform, women in prison, racial injustice, the impact of incarceration on children and families, the problems associated with re-entry and stopping the practice of using private prisons in our state.

Last Dash For HB 1074

Can the Abolition of the Death Penalty make a Kentucky Derby 2009 "mine that bird" dash for the finish line?  We only know that it was resurrected in the House today when the amendment that struck down HB 1074 in the Senate was rejected on a slim but strong vote.  Now, HB 1074 will go to conference committee and we shall see if it makes it out, hopefully in it's original form and then back to the Senate for the vote that it so strongly deserves.
