Pet Projects Lose Out to Prison
CCJRC filed the lawsuit that kept CSP II from being built. We don't believe we need another maximum security prison. The money that is going to be used can be spent on much better things.

CHIEFTAIN DENVER BUREAUDENVER - The additional money that the Colorado Department of Corrections needs to start its planned expansion of the state penitentiary in Canon City became a funding football on Thursday.
In its final approval of its annual priority list, the Legislature's Capital Development Committee kicked back to the Joint Budget Committee the decision on what to do about the extra $36.8 million the department needs to begin construction of its 980-bed Colorado State Penitentiary II project that DOC has been trying to build for the past four years.
CDC members sought to use lobbyists and government liaisons, whose projects didn't get funded, to help them pressure the JBC for more money - approximately $100 million more.
