Who is the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition?

Our mission is to reverse the trend of mass incarceration in Colorado. We are a coalition of nearly 7,000 individual members and over 100 faith and community organizations who have united to stop perpetual prison expansion in Colorado through policy and sentence reform.

Our chief areas of interest include drug policy reform, women in prison, racial injustice, the impact of incarceration on children and families, the problems associated with re-entry and stopping the practice of using private prisons in our state.

Heroin Use Up in Boulder County

As reported by the Rocky Mountain News today:

Heroin use is up in the county, the Boulder County Drug Task Force reported today. The task force says that, according to police reports and records from the Boulder County Coroner, that since Oct. 1, 2006:
  • Five heroin related deaths, four in the city of Boulder and one in Longmont.
  • Two heroin related overdoses where the users were revived and treated in Boulder.
  • Three patrol arrests involving heroin use in public restrooms in Boulder.
  • 16 heroin related reports or incidents reported to the Boulder Police Department.
